HOW SHOULD I LOOK AFTER MY NEW TATTOO
Your new tattoo is basically an area of tiny punctures caused by the needles carrying ink into your skin and, as with any wound, there is always a possibility that it may become infected or have other healing issues. Following the advice below helps reduce the chance of anything going wrong with your tattoo:
- Keep the cling film dressing on for 2 hours
- Remove the dressing and wash under hot running water for 10 – 15 minutes
- Gently blot excess water off using a clean towel
- Allow to air dry for 30 minutes
- Apply a thin layer of Bepanthan ointment to the whole tattoo
- Wash and apply Bepanthan 3 – 4 times daily until all flaking/scabbing has gone
Everyone heals at different rates, and healing times depend on many factors. Most flaking/scabbing should disappear within 7-14 days. The skin may appear silvery for the first few weeks afterwards. The tattoo should appear healed in around 4/5 weeks for most people
DO YOU DO PIERCINGS?
Unfortunately we do not do any piercings
CAN I BRING A GUEST ALONG WITH ME TO MY TATTOO APPOINTMENT?
If you need moral support, we’ll do our best to fit in your guest. Please ask at the time of the booking because some days are busier than others.
WILL I NEED TO BRING I.D.?
If you’re lucky enough to look under 25 then yes, definitely. If you are a little older, it’s a good idea to bring it anyway.
A parent/guardian is NOT I.D. You will need a valid Passport of driver’s licence… and yes, we will spot a fake
DO I NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE OR CAN I JUST WALK IN?
Booking is necessary. On the rare occasion that an artist has a cancellation or no-show, you may be able to get a walk in slot but you’d be best checking our Facebook or Instagram pages as we will post last minute spaces there.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I ARRIVE FOR MY APPOINTMENT
Please arrive to the studio at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment and remember to bring along some identification if you look under 25. We take a copy of every young person’s ID as stipulated by our license, so please come prepared with either a driving licence or passport.
Once you arrive to our studio, you will be welcomed and offered a tea of coffee while you fill out your consent form.
The artist will be notified of your arrival and will come get you once he/she is ready.
Due to the nature of the work, appointment delays can happen for many reasons. We will notify you as soon as you arrive should your artist be running slightly behind schedule.
CAN I SEE THE TATTOO DESIGN PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT?
It varies depending on the design and the style. Realism artists usually finalise the design on the day of the appointment but if the design is hand drawn, we can send you a copy 24 to 48 hours before the booking
WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
We have no card facilities but there is an ATM 1 minute walk away to get cash out. The other option is transferring the payment directly to the artist’s PayPal account.
WHAT IS THE CLOSEST TRAIN STATION TO THE STUDIO
The Haymarket Station is a 10 minute walk away.
IS THERE PARKING NEAR THE STUDIO
We don’t have a car park but the Princes Exchange Car Park on Riego St is a 5 minute walk and one of the cheapest in the city center. If your booking is on a Sunday, there is free parking on some of the surrounding streets.
CAN I GET TATTOOED IF I AM UNDER 18
It is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to be tattooed in the UK, regardless of parental consent.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY TATTOO APPOINTMENT
Get a good night’s sleep, don’t drink alcohol for 24 hours beforehand, stay hydrated, and have a good breakfast/lunch a couple of hours before your appointment.
Don’t get sunburn, tan, or use fake tan prior to the appointment. It doesn’t hurt to exfoliate the body part getting tattooed for a few days prior to your booking.
Anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be refused treatment.
HOW LONG IS YOUR WAITING LIST
It varies with the artists and time of the year. Contact the studio for more information.
